Intimacy in the Art of Nobuyoshi Araki
In my thesis, I examine the art of Nobuyoshi Araki, with a particular emphasis on the presence of intimacy. By examining the Japanese culture's relationship with sexuality and analysing Araki's body of work, I provide commentary on his approach to photography and his subjects from artistic and ethical perspectives. The main focus of my thesis is Araki's relationship with his wife and the way he captures their connection, which I explore through the context of differences and similarities in his photographs of other women. I delve into Araki's body of work from both Western and Eastern cultural perspectives, with particular attention to its ethical implications.
