In my thesis I investigated the various meanings of the lobster figure that appears in surrealism. First, I analysed the appearance of the lobster symbol in art and then in the world of fashion. My research seeks to answer the questions of how and why the lobster figure appears in art and fashion. My thesis presents the emergence of the Surrealist movement and examines the use of the lobster figure, exploring its application in the realm of fashion. Additionally, I analyse the notable artwork Woman's Dinner Dress in my research. Finally, I delve into the depiction of the lobster figure in the collections of two famous fashion houses, Schiaparelli and Maison Margiela.
