Visual Representations of Sound Data and its Spatial Properties
My thesis presents the history of interpreting sounds as images. Audiovisual art heavily relies on tools for depicting and quantising sound, and the significance of scientific discoveries in this field is also substantial. The history of this niche field may not be well known, but it undeniably played a crucial role in the development of technology and in understanding the properties of vibrations. The scientific and artistic nature of the subject draws interesting parallels between the utilisation of perceived and measured results. My writing presents the non-linearity of the subject's history, revealing its diverse past and the continuous trajectory of its development.
