In my essay, I attempt to explore the concept of 'presence' in its broader and personal sense, as well as to interpret it within an artistic, primarily photographic, context. Given that the discourse around the concept of 'presence' has shifted significantly in the past decades with the advent of digitalisation and the Internet, I emphasise the benefits of consciousness, immediacy, and the importance of real physical experiences on mental well-being. My goal is to understand photography as an experience of presence.
