My thesis explores the position of female artists in 1970s Yugoslavia through the art of Marina Abramović and Katalin Ladik, with a focus on performance art. I provide a brief overview of the history of Yugoslavia and offer a glimpse into the lives of the two artists. I finish my thesis with a comparison of the two, drawing conclusions.
