The thesis examines the relationship between contemporary fashion and Hungarian folk art through the lens of bridal gowns. The historical overview encompasses the wedding attire of Queen Maria, folk inspired ceremonial costumes, and extends as far as the collections of contemporary designers. How has the bridal attire changed in Hungary? How do today's wedding dresses differ from the gowns of past centuries? How did the white dress become popular all over the world? The thesis investigates the historical and cultural components of wedding dresses.
