We freely post millions of pictures and posts on the Internet every day, without feeling the weight of it. And yet, like everything else, social media also has materiality. The thesis explores how the materiality of the Internet and social media impacts our environment, how underwater cables and server farms operate, and how much data they are capable of storing.
