Performative Documentary Filmmaking and Approaching Trauma
The performative imagery of documentary filmmaking enables the filmmaker to incorporate their personal experiences and emotions into their work. This approach is particularly effective in addressing the topic of trauma, enabling a more intimate and nuanced exploration of its complex nature and its impact on individuals and communities. My thesis examines how performative documentary filmmaking can be used for exploring and depicting traumatic experiences, as well as the potential advantages and disadvantages associated with this approach.
