The main theme of my thesis is the manifestation of a sense of discrimination in Romani fine art. The main emphasis of my thesis is Mara Oláh, also known as Omara, a contemporary female painter of Roma origin. Researching her life, body of work, and legacy, I examine how Mara Oláh pursued an artistic career despite facing multiple forms of discrimination as a Roma woman, and how she expressed her trauma through her art.
