The utilisation of natural light is a prominent factor in architectural design. Owing to changes in ideology and technology, this phenomenon is well reflected in the architectural solutions of the 20th century. My thesis starts with a comprehensive presentation of the role of natural light. Subsequently, I expand on the relationship between light and design through the analysis of 20th-century buildings. I used period photographs and various scholarly literature in different languages to explore the subject matter.
