Humour in 19th and 20th Century Graphic Design

In my thesis, I aim to explore and demonstrate through various examples how the use of humor in graphic design has evolved and how its character changed in the 20th and 21st centuries. My research focuses on the more well-studied 20th century and the as yet less explored 21st century, and the differences between them that my writing delves into in more detail. The 21st century is particularly fascinating to me because with the emergence of new technologies, our changing society and shifting norms, the content, application, and communication of humor have also been redefined. In my thesis, I intend to present my topic in four major units, which I have further divided into subchapters that analyse specific examples of graphic tools used by designers of different time periods, following the trends of their respective eras.
