Analysing Traditional Romani Clothing in Light of Modernity

In my thesis I present authentic Romani clothing and how it is perceived in a contemporary setting. In the first part of my study, I analyse authentic Roma attire according to different ethnic groups of Roma living in Hungary, which is particularly significant for determining contemporary Romani clothing trends. I also position Roma attire on the design horizon and establish connections between contemporary Roma fashion and the prejudiced thinking of our society. In my thesis I analyse collections of both domestic Romani fashion businesses and international designers focused on Roma fashion.
