Material Implications of Digital Data Usage
In the digital age, our relationship to information is becoming more abstract. The global digital infrastructure is stepping out of the human scale, so we cannot realize the consequences of our actions. Under such circumstances, we may perceive these processes as immaterial. In reality, when we produce digital information, we create a material structure, such as IT tools and data storage. We need to be aware of the environmental emissions that can be linked to this topic, because without it, this expanding platform cannot be managed responsibly.
