My goal with my thesis is to soften the severe criticism surrounding Lars von Trier and give a deeper analysis into his work. I am focusing on the opposition between the implementation of christian doctrines into his movies which get the director closer to public taste, meanwhile his demoralizing remarks on moral and kindness cast a shadow on his head. I am trying to draw up a path from messiahs and christian doctrines to the destruction of God and moral, with this emphasizing the changing values of the director. Furthermore, I concentrate on the analysis of sin as a continuously appearing motive in his movies.
