In my thesis, I am researching the absence of the androgynous man in popular culture, with special focus on the context of contemporary mainstream cinema. Based on the key assumptions of feminist film theory and gender theories, I am searching for the reasons for why this type of male ideal has not been able to gather ground, while we can easily find examples for its female version, the androgynous woman.
